From the moment you step through the
tiled vestibule at The Carisbrooke Inn, you are greeted with The
Carisbrooke Inn’s “European Hospitality”. Your innkeeper, John
Battista, is a second generation Italian Americans and has traveled
around Europe extensively. Since hospitality is an integral facet of
the European way of life and has been for John, he strives to
bring this concept of hospitality to the Inn. The “European
Hospitality” begins by being personally greeted at the door by John or
a staff member. You don’t have to worry about carrying your luggage to
your room as the innkeepers will be happy to assist you with your bags.
After arriving at your guest room and settling in, you have some time
to await the ever popular Evening Wine and Refreshments. Guests are
treated to homemade treats such as John’s special blend of wine,
bruschetta made with fresh tomatoes and basil, focaccia from an old
family recipe, peach gelato, fresh lemonade in the summer and many more
specialties!! These treats are served on our ocean view deck in the
summer where many guests gather to experience an outdoor dining
experience or fireside in the winter months.
In addition to the delicacies served in the
evening, breakfast is always an event to remember! Our multi-course
homemade breakfast is served in our parlor area where you can dine with
a view of the ocean. Breakfast is a true delight because in preparing
our meals, we only use the highest quality ingredients such as fresh
herbs, seasonal fruit, and other select foods. In the winter months
when fresh seasonal fruit is a rarity, you will be served specialty
fruit items picked and canned personally by John and the staff. Such
treats include Jersey peaches and cream, apple puffs with cinnamon and
brown sugar, and maple poached pears. Accompanying our fruit course is
one of our warm homemade baked items including cranberry scones (an Inn
favorite), pumpkin chocolate chip muffins (an Autumn time specialty) or
sour cream coffee cake, just to name a few. The next course is our main
entrée, which we prepare from scratch using only the freshest
ingredients. Our guests love Westine’s Waffles, an old family recipe,
our Spinach and Gruyere Strata (a new twist on Spinach Quiche) or light
and fluffy Buttermilk pancakes using a recipe developed at the Inn.
In addition to the distinctive
cuisine you will find at the Inn, John and his staff are
personally available to help you plan your activities during your stay.
Whether you choose to dine at one of the Atlantic City area’s finest
restaurants, spend a day dolphin watching or even antiquing in Historic
Smithville, John and his staff will assist you with directions,
reservations, transportation and anything else that you may need to
make your stay more pleasant. While food and personalized service are
important facets of European Hospitality, attention to detail is
equally significant. Specifically, the guest rooms are individually
appointed with simple and elegant décor. In each room, a guest will
find antique furniture and vintage pieces, crisp linens and fresh
flowers, all of which are combined to create a luxurious yet
comfortable resting place. Also, if you are celebrating a special occasion, our staff is
happy to put surprise treats in the room for your loved one, such as
champagne, gifts or anything else you would like. Many guests love the
convenience of having details such as this taken care of by us.
