How Important is Miss America

From time to time, I have the opportunity to help a customer out with getting the word out about something. When getting the word out has to do with a positive, charitable organization, I find it even more gratifying.
I have been fortunate enough to have a Marketing Director from the Miss America organization choose to stay here, at the Carisbrooke Inn while visiting their home office in NJ. They are a worthy organization who promote a wealth of good causes, not the least of which is The Children's Miracle Network. I would ask any of my loyal blog readers to consider voting for Katie Stam, the current Miss America, who is one of Time Magazines finalists for their list of 100 most influential people. Our Miss America 2009, Katie Stam, has been nominated to be on Time Magazine’s List of the 100 Most Influential People in America, but she needs our votes to make it into the issue. With all of the work Katie does for Children's Miracle Network alone, she easily influences the lives of thousands of sick children across the country every month. In addition, Katie is constantly encouraging people to get involved in community service as part of her personal platform. She is making a difference in people’s lives every single day, and there are few on Time’s nominee list about whom you can say that.
This benefits of having Katie Stam on this list would be immeasurable to our little non-profit company. We are constantly striving to educate the public about our relevance and value of providing a positive role model to the undereducated and at-risk youth in this country. We need sponsors for which Katie would be an excellent spokesperson. This exposure in Time Magazine would give Katie and our organization well-deserved credibility – not to mention the free publicity! Every dollar outside of our operating costs goes to our Scholarship Fund, and this could literally change the course of our organization. As the largest provider of scholarships for women in the world (I know many of you have heard it before), our work is important, even if it’s disguised in bikinis and sequins.
