(Atlantic City, NJ) -- The accent is on antiques and collectibles at the debut of a new and exciting Atlantic City Antiques & Collectors Show opening to the public on March 27-28 at the Atlantic City Convention Center. Long anticipated by exhibitors and collectors alike, the show is managed by JMK Shows & Events and will feature a shopping experience that is not to be missed. The show encompasses more than 250,000 square feet and comes packed with hundreds of dealers featuring an array of inventory that represents the ultimate treasure hunt for collectors of everything from Barbie to the Barbizon School.

Antiques and collectibles of all types will be on display including furniture, toys, dolls, art, advertising, vintage fashions, Art Deco, lighting, ephemera, jewelry, Modernism, and much more. The event will include The Royal Doulton & Best of British Potteries Exposition and Conference where collectors can savor and purchase fine examples of Royal Doulton, Wedgwood, Moorcroft, Hull and other masters of British pottery design.

Recently announced: Louise Irvine, the world’s leading authority on Royal Doulton antiques, will join the show.  Irvine has published more than a dozen standard reference books and countless articles for collectors. Her best-selling book, The Doulton Lambeth Wares charts the history of this well-known London pottery and features art wares by famous designers, including George Tinworth, Hannah Barlow and Mark Marshall.  Attendees will have an opportunity to meet Louise in the Royal Doulton Expo section of the Atlantic City show.
Exhibitor highlights include Philip Chasen Antiques with an assortment of authentic Louis Comfort Tiffany Favrile glass, antique Tiffany Studios lamps and desk sets, Daum Nancy glass, Emile Galle glass, Louis Icart etchings and paintings, and Handel and Pairpoint lamps. Other specialties in Chasen’s booth are Art Deco French glass by Le Verre Francais and Schneider, Loetz, Steuben glass, Quezal, Durand, and the glass of Rene Lalique.

Atlantic City Antiques & Collectors Show, add one

Barbara Gerr Antiques are specialists in American Art Pottery and will bring a dazzling selection of Roseville, Weller, Pillin, and Rookwood items. American Art Tiles, Zanesville Stoneware, and McCoy pottery will also be well represented.

Diane and Doug McElwain from Goldsboro, NC trade in antique sporting goods and country store furnishings as Sport & Spool Antiques. Customers can use this source to add to their collections or decorating projects.

Appraisals
One of the most exciting aspects of the show will be the Appraisal Center featuring appraisals by five prominent experts in antiques and collectibles. Leading the team is author, collector, and TV and radio personality Harry Rinker who many know from his weekly syndicated column, “Rinker on Collectibles” that appears in trade papers and dailies from coast to coast. Rinker’s Sunday morning call-in radio program, “Whatcha Got” on the morning of March 28th will feature exhibitors selected from the show. Appraisals will be held both Saturday and Sunday for $5.00 per item.

Joining Mr. Rinker in the professional appraisal team is Linda Roberts from White Orchid Appraisals and Cindy Charleston Rosenberg, a specialist in American and European art from the Art Appraisal Firm. Doll specialist Dorothy Hunt from Sweetbriar Auctions and jewelry specialist Paula Fox from Paula Fox Appraisals will round out the panel of experts who will be on hand to help collectors and dealers to discover the inner secrets of their attic treasures for just five dollars per appraisal.

“Dating objects is the first step in guaranteeing merchandise,” advised Mr. Rinker. “Value is also contingent on place and moment and is ever changing; it often takes experts to help guide the public, and we’ll be in Atlantic City to help.” Rinker advises visitors that if they can’t bring in an object because of size, that he will be happy to work from a photograph. He suggests that people not be worried about a long line for appraisals. Everybody will get a number and can shop the show while waiting their turn to work with an expert. Finally, Mr. Rinker reminds collectors that he and his team can appraise both antiques and collectibles. “Remember that the hottest things in today’s marketplace can be from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s.”

Additional Show Features:
  • Restoration by Louis will conduct and Expert Porcelain and Pottery Restoration Clinic on Saturday only.
  • Paul Nulton will conduct an Expert Glass Repair Clinic both days of the show.
