Exciting Things at The Shore This Fall

Wow, It's hard to believe September is over and we're half way through October.   I've been a bit lax in keeping up with my blog.   Between trying to catch up with things from the summer and now all the economic turmoil it's hard to decide what to do first when I get up in the morning.   The economy certainly gives us all some reason for some pause.  We all hate uncertainty, especially me.  I hope, though we can all look past this turbulent time, because it will pass and we will come out beetter in the long run.

So, I received a reallly interesting press release a few days back.   It seems Guy Fieri, from the food networks Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, will be doing his show from Pistol Petes steak house in Pleasntville, very near here on October 25th.   Since I'm a food enthusiast (anyone who knows me knows I'm very enthusiastic about food and drink for that matter), I am planning to attend and wanted to let those who read my blog know about this fun event.  Details are below and I have decide to provide a special rate at the inn for anyone who wants to get out and partake in this fun evening.   Lets face it with all the turmoil around us, sometimes all we have is good food, good friends and good times.

Live Cooking Showdown Features Celebrity Chef Guy Mitchell
at Pistol Pete’s Steakhouse and Saloon Sunday, October 25, 2008

Pleasantville, NJ – There will be a real showdown -- Wild, Wild West style – at Pistol Pete’s Steakhouse and Saloon, but the weapons will be cooking utensils instead of pistols.
Pistol Pete’s will host celebrity Chef Guy Mitchell’s Wild, Wild West Live Cooking Showdown at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 25.  The event will feature Pistol Pete’s Steakhouse signature items for a food sampling and wine tasting, with tickets priced at just $29.95 per person.
According to “Pistol” Pete Quarelli, the restaurant’s owner, “It’s a thrill to work with someone of Chef Guy’s caliber.  I’ve had a great time developing the menu for this event with him, and I know our guests will be in for a real treat.”
Chef Guy’s impressive background, spanning 30 years, includes graduation from the Culinary Institute of America, apprenticeship at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City, executive chef for the Philadelphia Eagles, chef for the Academy Awards,

special engagements with the President’s chefs at the White House and assistance with
the Canadian Consulate and the Camden Aquarium in production of the Junior Chef Challenge.
He has been executive chef for David Rockefeller at the Montauk Yacht Club and has worked with such famous chefs at Emeril Lagasse, Morimoto, Bobby Flay, Paula Dean and Guy Fieri.
For additional information and advance tickets for the Live Cooking Showdown, call 609-484-1000 or visit Pistol Pete’s at 1000 Black Horse Pike, Pleasantville.
