What happened to April (and May for that matter)

The life of an innkeeper is crazy to begin with but this year it seems especially crazy for me. Between family, friends, and renovations that didn't seem like they would end, as well as very strong business this spring I sometimes don't know if I'm coming or going. Actually I have been truly blessed with family and friends and good business. It is true however, that I woke up the other day and wondered what happened to the month of April. We actually did have a lot of exciting things go on the past 6 weeks. We snuck in the renovation of another bathroom, we had a civil union, and had a great birthday/graduation party that we hosted for a wonderful family here.

Yes, if renovating the 3rd floor was not enough, my plumber offered me a great "deal" on a whirlpool tub so I said what the heck, lets do it. Of course I was kicking myself during the whole process, but in the end it turned out really incredible. Now room 7 (the blue and white room) has been upgraded to a spa room with a whirlpool tub, rainfall shower overhead with a handheld shower and seat. I have to say, the Inn has never looked better and I can't wait to post all the new pictures.
This is it though for a while. I have given all my friends and family instructions to smack me if I utter the words "renovation" again for the next few years. I love doing them and love the results, but those who know me, know I get a little bit -- well lets say NUTS while they are going on.
We also two lovely young ladies come to The Carisbrooke Inn this past month for a civil union which was celebrated down on the beach. I was not here at the time as I was with my family celebrating my fathers 78th birthday, but from what I understand the day was beautiful and it was a really nice event for them and their families and friends. They enjoyed some nice time together on our decks and in our main parlor before and afterwards, then had a celebratory dinner at Sage restaurant around the corner. This was definitely a first here at The Carisbrooke Inn but I hope we see more unions and weddings here over time. It's really nice to see people who are in love.
Our most recent event turned out spectacular. We had a former guest decide to celebrate her 21st birthday and college graduation with a weekend at The Carisbrooke Inn, in May. The group took the entire place for the weekend and had a lovely time. We arranged to have a chef come in from NYC to prepare a private dinner for them Saturday night, which was amazing. Then we arranged for tickets to The Comedy Stop for an evening of laughs and then afterwards they all went to Planet Rose for late night Kareoke.
Events like these are the reason we are in business and reminds me how much I love this business.
