Atlantic City, Coney Island Named Top Two Boardwalks in America

Families across America are enjoying the warm summer weather but summer wouldn’t be summer without at least visiting a boardwalk at least once.
And according to ShermansTravel.com, New Yorkers can visit two of the best boardwalks in the country.
Atlantic City took the top prize as the nation’s top boardwalk. The website says the boardwalk has a good mix of the casino feel from Vegas and the charm of the Jersey shore.
The Atlantic City boardwalk is the nations oldest as well as its longest boardwalk. The promenade is peppered with casinos and the historic Steel Pier where you can enjoy concerts and amusements.
But if visiting New Jersey is just too far, you can always catch one of the many trains that take you to the nation’s second best boardwalk: Coney Island.
The Riegelmann Boardwalk at Coney Island is known for a variety of reasons, most notably the Cyclone roller coaster. You can also visit the newly opened Luna Park that hopes to invoke memories of its predecessor with new rides and attractions.
Another Jersey boardwalk made the list, Wildwood, NJ. It occupies 38 blocks and features more rides than a certain mouse-themed park in Florida. It also boasts an adult oriented beach club, Ocean Oasis Waterpark that has spa services, live music, hammocks and lounge areas.
So if invoking feelings of nostalgia and enjoying a warm hot dog or salt-water taffy is your idea of a great summer memory, you are just a short ride away from two of the nations best places to make it a reality.
Here's the full list from ShermansTravel.com:
1. Atlantic City, New Jersey
2. Coney Island, New York
3. Kemah, Texas
4. Mission Beach,
California
5. Ocean City, Maryland
6. Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
7. Santa Cruz, California
8. Venice Beach, California
9. Virginia Beach, Virginia
10. Wildwood, New Jersey

Legendary International Music Star Engelbert Humperdinck at Trump Taj Mahal September 24 and 25

Category
Atlantic City, NJ – July 12, 2010; Engelbert Humperdinck will be performing in the Xanadu Theater at Trump Taj Mahal on Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25, 2010.  Show time is 9:00 pm on Friday and 8:00 pm on Saturday, doors will open one hour prior.

Ultra smooth balladeer Engelbert Humperdinck was often billed as "the King of Romance," and for millions of fans around the world, he more than lived up to that title. Despite the strange name and the latter-day ads hawking his music on late-night TV, Humperdinck was one of the finest middle-of-the-road balladeers around, a sensitive lyric interpreter with excellent vocal technique and a three-and-a-half-octave vocal range. During his heyday in the late '60s and early '70s, Humperdinck cultivated the image of a mysterious heartthrob, sporting shaggy sideburns and a flamboyant wardrobe that, when coupled with his rich, silky crooning, drove female fans wild. He was especially popular in Europe and his native U.K., and his worldwide record sales — counting both albums and singles — eventually totaled well over 100 million.

President Joseph Kelly made the announcement.

"I'm pleased to announce the Atlantic City Airshow is returning to the

true community event, Siganos Management will be the Presenting Sponsor
and Harrah's Entertainment will be the Host Hotel Sponsor for the
airshow."

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Golden Knights will
both return to headline the 2010 airshow. This year also marks the first
appearance by the Brazilian Esquadrilha da Fumaca or "Smoke Squadron".
The Brazilian Smoke Squadron will appear at only two shows this airshow
season: Atlantic City and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Additional acts
have been added to the airshow including a U.S. Marine Harrier Jet
demonstration and a US Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet demonstration.

It's also the 100th anniversary of the first airshow to take place in
New Jersey, held in 1910 in both Atlantic City and Asbury Park. To pay
tribute, the Atlantic City Free Public Library and Asbury Park Public
Library will offer a new exhibit - Flying Fearless: Celebrating the
Centennial Anniversary of Airshows in New Jersey - at the Atlantic City

grow in scope and popularity each year," said Jeff Vasser, president of
the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority. "It's events like the
airshow, the A10 Men's Basketball Championship and Atlantic City
Restaurant Week that continue to diversify our offerings and help keep
Atlantic City a popular destination for everyone."

the airshow. The resort will host both military and civilian pilots,
including the US Air Force Thunderbirds.

The Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) will continue to serve as
the host airport for the 2010 Atlantic City Airshow. Each year, the
majority of airshow performers take off and land via ACY even though the

A GREAT SHOW AND LOTS OF FUN

Category entertainment hypnosis comedy Trump Marina
I had the pleasure of attending Hypnosterical 2, at the Trump Marina last evening.  If you enjoy comedy with a twist or better yet if you want to be the center of attention this show is for you.   We spent 2 hours laughing at the antics of friends and other audience members who were brought up on stage to be hypnotized and then told to do different things.  This was one of the better comedy shows I've seen in a long time.
After we were invited to try out "The Disco" which is a new bar at Trump Marina.  Definitely a great place to go and get your groove on.  I couldn't stay too late because I had to be up for breakfast at the inn, but the spot was happening, full of people and a lot of great music.

Year-Over-Year Increases Continue 2010 Summer Successes in the City That's "Always Turned On"

JULY 4TH HOLIDAY HEAT WAVE HEATS UP ATLANTIC CITY BUSINESSES

Year-Over-Year Increases Continue 2010 Summer Successes in the City That's "Always Turned On"

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ, July 9, 2010 – Hot temperatures and cloudless skies meant strong business in Atlantic City during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Crowds from as near as New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and as far as Utah, Iowa and Quebec hit the shore to take advantage of the destination's free beaches, two fireworks displays and entertainment including a concert by Platinum-selling artist, Lady Gaga, at Boardwalk Hall. A number of resorts, restaurants and attractions reported strong year-over-year increases in visitation and revenue as guests and residents toasted America's birthday in the city that's "Always Turned On."

Atlantic City hotels showed positive summer momentum over the holiday with some, including Carisbrooke Inn, at sold out capacity for the three-night long weekend. Carisbrooke had a 20 percent increase in revenue over last year. Overall, the hotel has held strong occupancy this summer, hovering at or near 100 percent. The Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel was sold out for three nights, reflecting an eight percent increase over last year. In addition to a three-night sellout at Resorts Atlantic City, the hotel's popular buffet saw a 37 percent increase in covers. Courtyard by Marriott was also up this year versus 2009 with 99 percent occupancy and $10,000 in additional revenue. At Seaview, A Dolce Resort, a staggering 162 percent increase from 2009 resulted in a Saturday night sellout and 99 percent occupancy on Sunday.

Restaurant business was another outstanding category over Independence Day Weekend, with sales significantly up over 2009. Back Bay Ale House reported 20 percent higher sales than last year while Il Mulino at Trump Taj Mahal was up 15 percent. Other restaurant successes were also tallied at Hard Rock Café, Carmine's, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar and Ruth's Chris Steak House.

"Atlantic City has been busy and bustling this summer," said Jeff Vasser, president of the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority (ACCVA).  "It's fantastic to experience the diversity along the Boardwalk -- families enjoying the Steel Pier amusements, couples on rolling chair rides and friends hanging on the beach and at beach bars. When you see the wide-reaching appeal of this destination on a popular holiday weekend like we did, it speaks volumes about our relevancy and array of offerings." One of Atlantic City's landmark attractions, historic Boardwalk Hall, played host to Lady Gaga's Monster Ball Tour on July 4. The sold out show helped drive increased revenue to transportation companies such as Joe's Limo, which experienced a 26 percent increase in sales. In addition, the crowd at Steel Pier grew to 30,000 at the height of the weekend on July 4.

Other area attractions including Lucy the Elephant reported a strong weekend in visitation, citing the success of the new Bella Luna as well as Lucy's Beach Grille. A local cruise company, Jessie O'Fishing & Cruising Fleet, sold out its July 2nd Fireworks Cruise in the ocean and also added a successful second cruise in the back bay for the July Fourth fireworks.
